Ramona A. Lawrence
Ramona A Lawrence, age 97, passed away on October 8, 2026. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Marvin A Lawrence, her parents, Bernard and Rachel Abbott, daughter, Marla Lawrence Ball, granddaughter, Beth Michele Lawrence, sister, Jean Davis, and brother, Ronald Abbott. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Larry (Glenda) Lawrence, Terry (Cathy) Lawrence, Timothy (Joyce) Lawrence, Son-in-law and wife, Donald Ball (Glenda); seven grandsons, Derron, Kevin, and Eric Ball, Alex, Asher, Logan, and Landon Lawrence; four granddaughters, Kimberly Jubb, Jill Zosel, Takara Lawrence, and Lindsi Hubbard; 18 great grandchildren, Caroline, Lilian, Toriana, Bryson, Aurelia, Hattie, Nadia, Camille, Nora, Madisyn, Makenna, Emerson, Jasper, Murphy, Oscar, Charli, Canyon, and Grainger; one special cousin who was a loving caregiver, Shirley Key. She and her husband, Marvin, wed on August 6, 1948, and enjoyed 70 loving years together. She was selfless, loving, kind and compassionate. She and Marvin opened their home regularly to friends and family for meals, nights, and meetings of worship and praise to God. She told us often about her second-grade teacher who told her students, “You need to learn about God” and of her special “Granny” who started taking her to worship services to do that very thing. She continued that practice for the rest of her life. Her and Dad’s love for God and for each other has been a wonderful example for the family and for all who knew them. Mom loved thinking of others and often wrote letters to them. Unlike most of us, she said that writing letters relaxed her! Because of that “hobby”, going to the mailbox was a bright spot in her day. She frequently encouraged each in her family to hold on to the Word of God. We were blessed that she vocally shared her love with us up until just minutes before she went to her eternal home. The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2026, with the funeral beginning at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, Blacksburg. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg, VA. A catered luncheon is planned after the interment service. We want to give a special thanks to Caregiver Placement Services for the wonderful tender loving care their caregivers gave to Mom. She so much appreciated and loved each one of them. Flowers are appreciated or, in lieu of flowers, donations in her remembrance may be made to Warm Hearth Hospice, 100 Arbor Dr., Suite 108, Christiansburg, VA 24073 or a charity of your choice.
