Raymond Leon Burchett Jr.

Raymond Leon Burchett Jr., 86, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026. He was born on June 4, 1940, to the late Raymond Leon Burchett Sr. and Frances Cooke Burchett.

Leon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mittie Sue Burchett, and his parents, Raymond Leon Burchett Sr. and Frances Cooke Burchett.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Sheri (Donovan); son, David (Deborah); grandchildren, Corey (Jeanette), Franklin, Emily (Greg), and Brett; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Alyce.

Leon retired as a supervisor from the Texaco Plant in Montvale, Virginia. A devout Christian, Leon found great joy in bringing happiness and laughter to others, including through his time as a professional clown for First Baptist Church of Roanoke. He also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and could often be found baking, bird watching, or tending to his garden.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 24, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Roanoke, 321 Marshall Ave SW, Roanoke, VA 24016. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.
