Rebecca Francisco

Rebecca Francisco of Catawba, VA (formerly of Waynesboro, VA), 62, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025. A lover of gardening and flowers she found joy in her many gardens, at her home, with her husband Eddie in Catawba. She was known for her passions of cooking and baking and brought many people together with her delicious, sweet treats. A devoted missionary, she spent four years serving in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam with Food for the Hungry International, sharing her faith and compassion with others. Rebecca had a gift for making friends wherever she went and was a light to all who knew her. Her generous spirit, quiet strength, and love for others will be deeply missed.

Rebecca is survived by her husband, Eddie; daughters, Kristyn Francisco and Sarah Dillon (Sean); One grandson Owen M. Dillon. Mother Loretta Saben; Sister Marian Ulman (Robert), Brothers Timothy Saben (Sara) and Michael Saben (Megan). Nieces and Nephews Henry G. Saben, David R. Saben, John H. Saben, Philip M. Saben, Edward B. Saben, Marissa Ulman (Dr. Salil Desai), Leah U. Munster (Drayton), Michaela D. Ulman, and Paula E. Saben, Vanessa Munster, Ivy Munster. Rebecca was preceded in death by her father David Saben.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Scleroderma Foundation, the SPCA Roanoke Valley and Grace Assembly Church.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 9, 2025 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 4 pm at Grace Assembly Church in Catawba, VA with Rev. Loraine Taylor officiating. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, beginning at 3 pm.
