Rebecca Shepherd

Rebecca Shepherd, 82, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.  Rebecca was born on June 25, 1942, to the late Virginia Tanksley Strader and Capus Strader.  She was predeceased by her loving husband, Mr. William Shepherd, Sr.

Rebecca loved sewing and cooking, especially baking pies. She was a devoted caregiver of the sick and shut-ins and always worried about taking care of them. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren very much. She loved shopping with Mrs. Karen. 

Rebecca is survived by daughters, Susan Douglas (Jerome), Lena Stearnes (Bob), and Melissa Thompson (Bob); sons William Shepherd, Jr. (Karen), and Steve Myers, a sister, Dora Piercy. Also surviving nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son Allen Shepherd; two sisters; Virgie Bray and Judy Strader; and brother Freddie Strader

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Sheldon Baptist Church, 2486 Old US Hwy 29, Pelham, NC. with Reverend Timothy Anderson  officiating.  Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Garden, Danville, VA.  A visitation will be held at the church prior to the service on the same day at noon. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence.
