Renee Mirian Mintz

October 13, 1924 - August 4, 2023

Renee Mintz, nee Zabriskie, was born October 13, 1924 in the Bronx, NY to Fay and Harry Zabriskie and was sister to Sumner and Fredrick. She attended University of Wisconsin, but came home to her family when WWII was declared.

She married Murray Mintz in 1942 raising a family and working as a bookkeeper and later in mail order fulfillment management in the early years of computers. After divorcing and retirement, Renee moved to St. Augustine, FL with her partner John Foley. After residing in Florida for 30 years, she moved to Roanoke, VA with her daughters in 2021.

A spirited woman, Renee Mintz believed in enjoying every minute of her life. Part of her joy was to use her energy and talents to help others. She volunteered to help kids with cerebral palsy, was a candy-striper at Creedmore, worked the voting polls for many years in West Augustine, became a council woman, ushered at the Limelight Theater and read to children at the St. Augustine Library. She spoke out for what she believed in and against injustice.

Renee leaves behind:

Daughter Sue Agresta, (husband Louis); grandsons Joseph and Thomas Ognibene, and great grandson Joseph.

Daughter Barbara Brottman, (partner George Ellis); grandsons Aaron (wife Tara) and Jason (wife Jackie); granddaughter Danielle, and great-grandchildren Jagger, Lillian, Nicholas and Kayla.
