Richard Dean Weekly

Richard Dean Weekly, 76, passed away on November 19, 2024.

Richard was the husband of the late Patricia Ann Weekly and son of Daniel Dean Weekley and Eleanor Kovach Weekley, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Weekly Horn; son in law, Mitchell Wade Brooks; sister, Debra Weekley Nichols; and brother-in-law, John Edgar Nichols. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Richard was a jokester and would go to great lengths to pull off a good prank, when he got you, his laugh could be heard “around the world”. His laugh was infectious. Richard was a great storyteller. He was so animated and told them with such enthusiasm. Everyone would stop what they were doing to listen to his stories. He enjoyed everything in nature. Richard especially enjoyed hiking and hunting. He was always able to identify every plant, tree, bird, and bug.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Julie Weekly Brooks (Fort Lauderdale, FL); son, Joseph McKinley Weekly and his fiancé Kelsey Nicole Bergman (Elliston, VA); son in law, John Robert Horn (Waynesboro, VA); grandsons, Henry Maxwell Steorts (Houston, TX), Evan Robert Horn (Waynesboro, VA), and Hudson Rhett Weekly (Elliston, VA); granddaughter, Josie Ann Weekly (Elliston, VA); sister, Pamela Weekley Howard and husband Stuart (Acworth, GA); brother, Terry Alan Weekley and wife Karen (Morganton, NC); his deeply loved aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces; and cherished friends, Malcolm (Mac) Mcleod Doubles, Vaso Tahmin Doubles (Troutville, VA), and Gregory Scott Mason (Scottsdale, AZ).

A memorial service will be held at Valley Community Church, Roanoke, VA date forthcoming.
