Richard Gregory Reid

Richard Gregory Reid, 74, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024. He was born February 6, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late John Reid and Mary Reid.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, sister, Karen Reid; brother, Claude Reid; and maternal grandparents, Samuel Reid and Nancy Reid.Richard was a graduate of Mumford High School in Detroit, Michigan, and was a dedicated employee of Northwest Air Line Delta as a Sky Cap for more than 35 years. He enjoyed cooking, watching sports, and meeting new people. He was known for his sense of style, humor, and love of hosting a good BBQ. He was an avid reader and enjoyed discussing current events. He was a historian of sorts, and could pull facts from memory. He loved cars, fishing, and living in Virginia.He is survived by daughter, India Hairston; son, Richard Gregory Reid; sister, Reverna Reid (Keith); brothers, Larry Reid, David Reid, Gerald Reid, Karl Reid (Toi), John Reid (Jacqueline), Marlon Reid; granddaughter, Serenity Reid and a host of nieces and nephews.The memorial service will be Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 4:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel.
