Richard Lee Floyd

April 11, 1962 - August 14, 2026

Richard Lee Floyd, 64, of Lynchburg passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 14, 2026. He was the son of the late Edward Daniel Floyd and Gladys G. Martin Floyd.
Richard was a graduate of Heritage High School and spent much of his working life in the construction field. Above all, he was a believer in Jesus Christ, and his faith remained an important part of who he was.

Richard found great joy in the simple things of life. He was an avid fisherman who loved being outdoors and enjoyed playing the guitar.

He also had a creative side, often whittling and crafting neat little things with his own hands. He was someone who was always willing to lend a hand, and his generosity was evident in the way he freely gave of whatever he had. If someone needed help fixing something, Richard was often there to help find a way to make it right.

Richard’s life was not without its struggles, but those who knew him knew there was a deep capacity for love within him. There was never any doubt about how much he loved his children. They held a special and irreplaceable place in his heart, and his love for them was one of the most enduring parts of his life.

Richard will be remembered for his generous spirit, his willingness to help others, his love of the outdoors and the simple pleasures he enjoyed, and most of all, for the love he carried for his children.

Those left to cherish Richard’s memory include his children Brittney Patricia Floyd, of Lynchburg, VA, Kathryn Lee Morris of Forest, VA, Isis M. Davis of Richmond, VA; his siblings Patricia Neal Floyd of Winston-Salem, NC, Kenneth Darrell Floyd of Goode, VA, Philip Leland Floyd of Fincastle, VA; and his five grandchildren Bryson, Bryndon and Bronsyn VanHook, Bennett and Woodland Morris.
