On Wednesday, May 24, 2023 Richard Arnold Stump of Rocky Mount, passed away at 73 years of age. Ricky was the son of the late Mack Cleve and Velma Florence Bowles Stump. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Edith Stump; sisters, Ida Mae Chappell, Peggy Morgan and Dorothy Largin; as well as beloved grandson, Brandon Miller.
Ricky will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Kimberly Stump and Sherri Krauss (Eric); grandchildren, Alex Johnson, Samuel Krauss, Andrea Krauss, Abigail Krauss, Logan Krauss and Dakota Krauss; sisters, Tina Wade, Geneva Robertson (Russell), and Elizabeth Stump; brothers, Billy Stump (Carol) and Don Stump; many nieces and nephews. Paw Paw Ricky was also the proud great-grandfather of seven busy boys.
A farmer for most of his life, Ricky enjoyed spending time in nature, walking, fishing, hunting, or just sitting by a creek. Once his medical care needs led to residence at assisted living, he enjoyed watching the birds feed outside his window, listening to music or watching movies, playing pool and showing off his card skills. A life-long reader of God’s word, he was proud to proclaim his faith and enjoyed devotional discussions.
Ricky was a man of firm opinions that he freely shared with anyone willing to listen. At his request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead, he asked that friends and family visit their loved ones to share stories and ensure they know how much they mean to you. In leu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
The family would like to express gratitude to the care takers at Rocky Mount Health Care where he gained many special friends. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
