Rita Dean Prillaman

Rita Dean Warren Bates Prillaman, 82, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2024. She was born February 13, 1942, to the late Willie C. Warren and Thelma Stegall Warren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buren “Buster” S. Prillaman; son, Gerald “Chummy” Holland Bates, Jr.Rita was a member of Beckham United Methodist Church and attended Collinsville Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was a dedicated employee of American Furniture where she worked for many years. In her free time, you would find her doing the things she loved like traveling to Florida to see the beaches, attending NASCAR races; especially watching Dale Earnhart and watching old western movies. Rita’s most treasured moments were those spent visiting her family.She is survived by her son, Jerry Wayne Bates; two stepdaughters; one stepson; sister, Joan Doyle (Gary); many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.The family wishes to express their gratitude to Mulberry Creek Nursing & Rehab for their care over the past years towards Rita.There will be a graveside service Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 3:00 PM at George Martell Prillaman Family Cemetery, 1388 Jameson Mill Road, Henry, VA 24102.Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
