Rita Faye (Cockerham) Bowman

Mrs. Rita Faye Cockerham Bowman, age 76, of Mount Airy, entered eternal rest on Monday, August 17, 2026 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Bowman was born August 5, 1950, in Surry County, to the late Lee Roscoe and Lula McCormick Cockerham. Rita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving is her daughters, Heather Bowman Perino, Amanda Faye Bowman: son and daughter-in-law Kevin Charles and Savannah Bowman, honorary daughters, Shelia Snow Marshall, Susan Annette Gravley; sister, Brenda Cockerham Ring; brothers and sisters-in-law, Douglas Cockerham and Sandra, Joseph “Joe” Manfred Cockerham and Carolyn; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her beloved husband Samuel Baird Bowman, as well as brothers David Michael and Daniel Mark Bowman, and sister Lutricia Cockerham Warnick. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 21st, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Reverends, Arlis Thomas, Douglas Cockerham, and Zane Fishel officiating. Interment will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 21st, 2026 at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
