Robert "Bob" Lee Montgomery

Robert “Bob” Lee Montgomery, Jr., 84, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 14, 2026. He was born on October 11, 1941, in Pine Hall, North Carolina, to the late Robert Lee Montgomery, Sr. and Gracie Hall Montgomery.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Becky Harrison and Liz Powell and brothers Frank and James Montgomery.

After honorably serving in the US Air Force, he dedicated his career to automotive parts and service in Reidsville, Madison, Eden, and Martinsville. He loved fishing and as a devoted NASCAR fan, enjoyed Sunday afternoons cheering on his favorite driver, Kyle Busch.

He is survived by his wife Joan of the home; his daughter Tina Welch and husband Randy; his son Randy Montgomery and wife Sherry; his stepsons Scott and Stephen Laprade; and his sister Judy Blake. Bob also leaves behind several cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

The family is deeply grateful for the many years they shared with him, the lessons he taught them, and the treasured memories that will remain in their hearts always. The family extends their sincere appreciation for the love and kindness shown during their time of grief by friends, family, special caregiver Dannielle Widener, and Mountain Valley Hospice Care. There will be no formal visitation or service per Bob’s request.
