Robert David Lemons
Robert David Lemons, Jr. 71, of Martinsville, VA passed away Friday, August 18, 2023 at his
home. He was born November 2, 1951 in Martinsville, VA to the late Robert David Lemons, Sr.
and Violet Jean Cobler Lemons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his
brother, Stephen Wayne Lemons.
David was a Class A building contractor and owner of Lemons Construction. He loved building
and helping people realize their dream of having a newly built home. He had also worked at
Frith Construction and the Lester Group. David loved to have a good time, never met a stranger,
and was happiest when he was fishing at the coast or riding his Harley. He also had a love of
fast cars, guitars, and music. Faith Fellowship was David’s church home and his faith was a
large part of his life that helped him through many of life’s challenges.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Elizabeth Lemons; sister, Donna Jean Lemons Cassell, Carol
Lovell, (Mother In Law), Lewis Hauger (Brother In law) and his beloved dog, Scooter. David was
blessed to have angels disguised as caregivers taking care of him during his illness. Annie
Rogers, Dianne Duggins, Wilma Inaman, Tiffani Hale, William Penn and Marsha Collins did so
much to help him and the family is forever grateful for them and the part they played in helping
David through his difficult times.
Family and Friends are invited to remember David at a graveside service at 1 p.m. on Monday,
August 21, 2023 at Roselawn Burial Park with Pastor Gary Hoffman officiating. There will be a
