Robert "Doug" Douglas Trout
Robert Douglas Trout “Doug”, age 91, of Roanoke, Va. went home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 23, 2024. He lived a long and full life, never meeting a stranger and was loved by family and friends. Doug served in the US Army for 2 years from 1953 to 1955 in Fort Meade, Maryland. He retired from General Electric in Salem, Va. as a wireman after 30 years of service. He was a craftsman building and repairing many businesses and homes in the Roanoke Valley. He loved serving on the property committee of his church and loved to go deep sea fishing with friends.Doug was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Norma Jeanette Trout; parents, James E. and Annie Huddleston; two sisters, Hazel Tate and Virginia Maxine Chastain; one brother, James L. “Jimmy” Trout; three brothers-in-law, Nelson Tate, Marvin Chastain and George Robinson; sisters-in-law, Anita Faye Trout and Sandra Robinson; a niece, Cathy Tate and nephew, James “Jay” L. Trout, Jr.Family remaining to cherish his memory are daughter, Twila T. Gibson and son-in-law, Michael; sister-in-law, Patricia Josey and husband, Bill; grandson, Robert T. Gibson and wife, Crystal; three beautiful great-grandchildren, Bailey, Nash and Halle Gibson; nephews and nieces, Nelson Tate, Jr., Gene Tate, Richard Haley, Tara Sawin and Allison Sawin.A celebration of Doug’s life will be held 1:00 pm, Friday, November 29, 2024, at Lotz Funeral Home, 305 East Washington Ave. Vinton.
