Robert Leonard Joyce

Robert Leonard Joyce Jr., 90, of Axton Virginia, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023. He was born September 26, 1932, in Stoneville, North Carolina, to the late Robert Leonard Joyce Sr. and Queenie Martin Joyce. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie Beth Rhinehardt Joyce; sisters, Marjorie Anderson, Gertrude “Tootsie” Purdy, and Aileen Bryant; and brothers, James Joyce (Edith) and Gene Joyce (Jeannie).Robert attended Irisburg Methodist Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 10 years and was Boatswain Mate 3rd Class during the Korean War. He was a traveling truck driver and was also a great mechanic. He enjoyed all of life, and most of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the type of man who would do anything for anyone and loved to share a laugh. He loved Chevrolet, Dale Earnhart and NASCAR. He loved all animals, his goats, pigs, squirrel, and especially his mini-Dachshund.He is survived by his daughters, Susan Bryant and Marsha Joyce Walker (Clint); son, Randolph Joyce (Kim); sister, Dorothy Hairfield (Glen); brother, Donald Joyce (Peggy); grandchildren, Dustin Agee (Arrica), Brandy J. Elliott (Kirk), Katy Agee, Jessica Bane (Matt), Taylor Walker, Savannah Walker, Emily Smith (Ryan), and Hunter Stark (Sarah); and great-grandchildren, Wyatt Agee, Olivia Elliott, Charlie Agee, and Layla Elliott.The funeral will be Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel, 1425 Greensboro Road, Martinsville, with Pastor Alton Bartee officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.Visitation will be Monday, August 14, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Wright Funeral Service Chapel.Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
