Robin "Rob" Patrick Myers
Robin Patrick “Rob” Myers, 53, of Blacksburg, Virginia, passed away in October 2026. Rob grew up in Blacksburg and attended the College of William & Mary, where he studied physics. After college, he lived and worked in the New York City area and San Francisco before eventually returning to Blacksburg. Bright, curious, and adventurous, Rob had a wide range of interests and an enthusiasm for exploring new places and experiences. He traveled throughout the United States, Europe, and South America, and particularly enjoyed visiting friends around the country. He loved the outdoors and, in his younger years, spent months backpacking the Appalachian Trail, hiking from Georgia through northern Virginia. Rob appreciated art, music, culture, and good food. He played the violin from an early age and maintained an interest in music throughout his life. He enjoyed cooking, discovering new things, and immersing himself in whatever subject or hobby had most recently captured his interest. He had a quick wit and a wonderfully offbeat sense of humor, with a gift for wry observations and unexpected turns of phrase. Above all, Rob was kind. He was an empathetic and encouraging listener, someone who could offer reassurance, a different perspective, or a bit of humor when it was needed. He also devoted considerable time to helping his mother during her later years. Rob was preceded in death by his parents, Derek and Rhoda Myers of Blacksburg. He is survived by his sister, Meigra Myers Chin, her husband, Prescott Chin, and their three children. He also leaves behind dear friends and chosen family within the LGBTQ community and beyond. Those wishing to honor Rob's memory are invited to make a donation to the Council of Community Services in Roanoke, Virginia.
