Rod Cameron Powell

Rod Cameron Powell, 67, of Ridgeway, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at SOVAH Health of Martinsville. He was born January 13, 1956 in Martinsville, to Patsy Louise Thore Mann and the late Willie Stanley Powell. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Faye Powell. He was a 1975 graduate of Martinsville High School, and was employed by Hanes Brand for over 37 years. He was a Dale Earnhardt fan, Las Vegas Raiders Football fan, and he treasured his collection of NASCAR cars. In his younger years, he loved to play softball and bowling, he was a country music fan, and loved his dogs. In addition to his mother, Rod is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Martin Powell; sons, Scott Cameron Powell (Chassity), Joseph Martin Powell, and Michael Lewis Powell; sister, Kathy Powell Ray (Victor); brother, Stephen Randolph Powell; grandchildren, Eva Marie Powell and Isaac Cameron Powell; and several nieces and nephews. The Memorial Service will be Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
