Rodger Lee Terry

Rodger Lee Terry, 79, of Amherst, VA died at home surrounded by his family on Monday, May 25, 2025.

Born on March 15, 1947, he was the son of the late Rodger Thomas Terry and Margaret Elizabeth Stanley Terry. Rodger spent 46 ½ years at BWXT and retired as the HR Manager. He also attended Clifford Baptist Church.

Rodger is described as the “GOAT.” He was the greatest at everything he set out to do whether it was being a husband, father, papa, employee, or friend. He was family centered and dedicated to each and every one he loved. Rodger enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach, and he was a loyal UVA fan.

Rodger leaves behind his beloved wife of 59 years, Darlene Mayberry Terry; two sons, Chris Terry (Liz) and Rodger “Greg” Terry (Laurie); one sister, Yvonne “Pug” Sturmfell (Walter); five grandchildren, Beth Watkins (Mitch), Rodger “Chat” Terry, Kate Terry, Rodger “Lane” Terry and Anneslee Terry; a special friend, Robert Crowder; and a furry family companion, Brave...(the favorite).

There will be a graveside service celebrating Rodger’s life at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 29, 2026 at Briarwood Memorial with Rev. Jeffrey Campbell officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior and immediately following the service at the cemetery.
