Roger L. Sowers

Roger Lee Sowers, 69, of Hardy passed away on January 2, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on October 31, 1954. Roger was preceded in death by his father, Norman Sowers.He is survived by his mother, Christine Sowers; Wife of 42 years, Margaret Sowers; Son, Matthew Sowers and Daughter, Lisa (Brad) Davis; Brother, Harold (Carol) Sowers; Sister, Barbara (Mike) Wilson. Grandchildren include Spenser (Morgan) Davis and Haley Davis; Great Granddaughter, Hudson Davis; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Roger began his career in the furniture industry and also worked in the automotive industry as a salesman and sales manager. Roger enjoyed spending time with his family, watching NASCAR, playing racquetball, racing go-carts, visiting friends at the Vinton Moose Lodge, walking with his beloved dog, Jax, on the greenway, and riding his motorcycle. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Roanoke Memorial Hospital and Blue Ridge Cancer Center for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be considered in Roger’s honor to the American Cancer Society or Pathways for Greenways. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 8th at Lotz Funeral Home in Vinton .
