Roger Lee McGill

Roger Lee McGill, 66, of Martinsville, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Rocky Mount Health & Rehab. He was born in Lester, West Virginia, on March 17, 1958, to the late George W. McGill and Clara McGill Ervin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George McGill, Jr.

Roger enjoyed watching wrestling and basketball, doing yardwork, shopping, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends.

Roger is survived by his son, Roger L. McGill, Jr.; six sisters, Ann Chism (Walter), Mary J. McGill, Goldie Brim (Steve), Dorothy McGill (Billy), Maude McGill, and Barbara Hall (Dale); three brothers, Larry McGill, Jerry McGill, and Charlie McGill (Teresa); three grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

The family wishes to express gratitude to the Good Samaritan Hospice and Rocky Mount Health and Rehab.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at Bassett Funeral Service, with Elder Alexandria Witcher, eulogist. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service. A burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. The family will receive friends other times, at 119 Moss Street Martinsville, Virginia 24112.
