Ronald Eugene Webb

March 13, 1946 - October 25, 2023

On October 25, 2023, the Lord called our sweet Ronnie home. Ronald “Ronnie/Ron” Eugene Webb was born on March 13, 1946, to Herman and Sarah Webb. He is the oldest and only boy of five children born to this union. Ron was born in Fancy Gap, Virginia, and attended Hillsville High School where he graduated in 1964.

From there he chose to further his education at nearby Wytheville Community College. After two years he transferred to Virginia Tech to play Division One baseball. He earned his degree in business management and education and graduated in 1969. After graduation from Virginia Tech, he began teaching business leadership, bookkeeping, and accounting at Fort Chiswell High School. After several years of teaching, he took a job at Kroger distribution warehouse in Salem. While working there he met Wanda Beason who he later married on November 16, 1973. Ron and Wanda later became the proud parents of Andrew “Andy” Webb, Daniel “Dan” Webb, and Elizabeth “Liz” Webb. Ron became an entrepreneur for forty-plus years and later lived out his “working retirement” at Smith Mountain Lake. This was a dream of his to retire and still be able to provide for his family in the future. Ron was an amazing father, husband, provider, and all-around jack of all trades. He loved God, his family, his Hokies, his animals, and his country! Ron will be missed dearly by all who knew him, but we take peace in knowing we will reunite with him again.

Preceding Ron in death are his father Herman A. Webb, and his sister Sarah (Susie) Stout.

Ron leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of fifty years, Mrs. Wanda Webb; two sons, Andrew Webb of Roanoke, VA, and Daniel Webb of Hardy, VA; and one daughter, Elizabeth Webb of Hardy, VA. Ron was also a proud grandfather of one, Tre' Webb; and great-grandfather to: Laura Webb, Natalie Webb, and Jaxson Webb all of Roanoke, VA. His mother Sarah Francis Webb; and sisters, Teresa Sumner, Dana Melton, and Anita Helton of Hillsville, VA. He also leaves behind a numerous host of cousins, nieces, and nephews, and plenty of friends because we all know Ron never met a stranger.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Le’Bryan Patterson officiating.

Friends may visit with the family from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service.
