Ronnie Steven Wood

Ronnie Steven Wood, age 69 of Boones Mill, Virginia passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024 with loved ones by his side on his family farm. With his hard-fought battle with cancer over, he can now rest in eternal peace reunited with his father, Roy Wood; mother, Clyde Wood Bowman; and brother, Michael Wood with our Lord and Savior in heaven.

He is survived by his longtime partner, Su Smith (Boones Mill, VA), daughter Ashley Wood Clark, son in law Ryan Clark and granddaughters Whitney and Emmalyn Clark (Gastonia, NC), and daughter Lauren Wood (Ferrum, VA).

Ronnie’s legacy will be played out through all of the lives in Franklin County and beyond that he has touched over his many years of raising a menagerie of livestock on his farm. His willingness to share his vast knowledge of animals and best practices to care for them and the land has no doubt influenced all who came to know him.

With his signature “Big Hat” and even bigger smile, you couldn’t help but feel welcome around Ronnie. Like his father, he enjoyed entertaining and was known for his BBQ’s on ‘the Mountain’. In honor of this, a celebration of his life will be held later this year at Woodstock Farm.

He was no doubt one of the last true cowboys. “Happy Trails to you, Ronnie, until we meet again”.
