It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved family member, Rose Scott, who departed from this world on November 6th, 2023. Rose was a remarkable soul, whose life was a testament to her deep love for cooking, baking, singing in the choir, and her unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Born on July 3rd,1939. Rose's journey was marked by a passion for hosting family and friends and making sure no guests were left hungry. She had a remarkable talent for turning simple ingredients into wonderful dishes that brought joy to those fortunate enough to taste her cooking. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, laughter, and aromas that brought people together, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Rose's voice was a gift in the choir for decades at Redwood United Methodist church. Her voice lifted the spirits of many during Sunday services. Her contributions to the choir reflected her deep faith and her dedication to sharing her love of God through music.
Beyond her passions, Rose's love for her family and friends was immeasurable. She was a source of support, a shoulder to lean on, and a heart that radiated warmth and compassion. Her home was a sanctuary where laughter, love, and the aroma of freshly cooked food and baked goods filled the air. Rose's presence was a comforting and uplifting one, and her kindness and generosity knew no bounds.
Rose is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Luther Edwin Scott of Glade Hill, VA; daughter, Sharon (David) Ferguson of Glade Hill, VA; grandchildren, Christy (Johnny) Ferguson of Roanoke, VA, Shaun (Brooks) Ferguson of Columbia, SC, Brandi (Tim) Abner of Rocky Mount, VA, Amanda (Tommy) Jennings of Boones Mill, VA; sisters, Kathy Wray of Rocky Mount, VA, Carolyn Buchanan of Lakeland, FL; sister-in-law, Lena Padgett of Rocky Mount, VA; brother-in-law, Frank Scott of Ferrum, VA; great-grandchildren, Adyson Jennings, Braelyn Abner, Eliza Ferguson, and David Ferguson; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews with countless friends and loved ones whose lives were enriched by her presence.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Posey and Isabelle Hall; and father and mother-in-law, Tan and Ethel Scott; sisters, Evelyn (Marvin) Arrington, Betty June (Darrell) Perdue; brothers-in-law, Earl Scott, Jimmy Scott, Billy J. Scott, Emmett Scott, John B. Scott, and David Wray. A celebration of Rose's life will be held on Friday, November 10 at 2:00 p.m. and visitation with the family will be on Thursday, November 9 from 5-7 p.m. both at Flora Funeral Service in Rocky Mount, VA. The service will be conducted by Rev. Ronald Coleman, who will pay tribute to Rose's extraordinary life and legacy. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
May her soul find eternal rest, and may her memory continue to inspire us to cook with love, sing with joy, and cherish our families and friends as she did throughout her beautiful life.
