Roy Herman Norton

Roy Herman Norton, 74, passed away peacefully at his residence on November 6, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Roy was born on October 2, 1950 in Danville, VA to the late Virginia “Bea” Smith Norton and the late Cleve Herman Norton. He is survived by his loving wife of many years, Mrs. Dale Hawker Norton.

Roy was of the Primitive Baptist Faith, and a longtime member and deacon of Old Mill Primitive Baptist Church. He was a loving family man. He worked for 23 years for Healthtex and several years for Lowe’s Home Improvement, previous to his retirement. Roy was well known in the area for playing Bluegrass Music professionally and with his friends and family.

In addition to his wife, Roy is survived by two sons; Roy Norton Jr. and wife Lesley, and Daniel Norton; a sister; Shirley “Sally” McCann; and four grandchildren; Avery Norton, Blake Norton, Riley Tucker, and Avery Tucker.

In addition to his parents, Roy was predeceased by two half sisters; Beulah Talbott and Maude “Jackie” Markham.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 11:00am at Old Mill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 12341 Kentuck Road, Sutherlin, VA 24594 with Elder Jamie Hancock and Reverend Rick Markham officiating. At other times the family will be receiving friends at the residence.
