Samuel Clyde Baldwin of Pamplin, Virginia
May 10, 1941 - November 12, 2022

Samuel Clyde Baldwin, 81, of Pamplin, VA, returned to his heavenly home on Saturday, November 12, 2022, surrounded by family. He was the loving husband of Barbara Childress Baldwin, as well as a dedicated father, grandfather, and friend to many.

Sam was born in Appomattox County on May 10, 1941, to the late Annie Goin and Cavil Caleb Baldwin. Sam and Barbara built their family together, adding one daughter in 1964 and another in 1971.

For more than 30 years, Sam worked for Appomattox Lime Plant, Co., retiring from his role as Plant Supervisor in 1997. In his spare time, he loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with family. Sam took pleasure in the simple things, like taking a Sunday drive every day of the week, tending to his garden, and caring for his beloved cat, Tom. Truly a man of integrity and selflessness, his joy came from the happiness of others.

Sam loved his home and found more contentment “riding around the loop” than traveling the world. His presence will be dearly missed by his loved ones, who find peace knowing that he was greeted with the words “Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into your rest.”

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mitzi Letterman and husband, Barry, of Pamplin, and Michelle Kuhn and husband, Matt, of Monroe; three granddaughters, Morgan, Melanie, and Madison; three great-grandsons: Bennett, Holden, and Graham; and two siblings; Betty Hodges of Evergreen and Bobby Baldwin of Emporia.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Margaret Ferguson, Ella Gray Price, Doris Anderson, and Ann Hodges; and four brothers, Aubrey Baldwin, Albert Baldwin, Lacy Baldwin, and Donald Baldwin.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Pamplin Community Cemetery off Penny Lane, behind the Pamplin United Methodist Church with Pastor David Sexton is officiating.

The family kindly requests no visitors to the residence at this time.
