Samuel Edward Sprinkel
Sam Sprinkel, a man loved by many, went to be with the Lord on Sunday June 29, 2025.
Sam went by many names, Greaser, Gee, Flea, Big Sam and Pagee. He is preceded in death by his first wife Barbara, his brothers Ben, Robert, and Floyd as well as his parents and sister. He is survived by his wife, Sue, son Glenn (Lisa) and daughter Laura (Gibby) and grandchildren Whitney, Ellen, Rene (Hugh) and Kimberly (Collin) and great granddaughter Miller. Sam was a lifetime member of the Fincastle Fire Department where he served as Treasurer and Chaplain during his tenure. He was also a founder and lifetime member of the Fincastle Volunteer Rescue Squad. Sam had a long career of 40 plus years at the Roanoke Cement Plant where he formed lifetime friendships and relationships. Sam was also a former member of the ROMEOs (retired old men eating out) where he continued to grow life long friendships. Sam was as a dedicated member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he loved the Lord and its members. He loved his family and his church fiercely and he was so proud of them always saying “I have the best family in the world”.
The Sprinkel family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Christie Stewart and Carilion Clinic Hospice for their care of Sam and to Dr. Brad Allen for his dedication and care of Sam for many years. They would also like to say thank you to their special neighbors Mitch and Shannon Turner and Bob Durham for being such good friends and neighbors to Sam and Sue for many years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sam’s name to the Fincastle Fire Department or Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Family will receive friends at Radar Funeral Home on Tuesday July 1st from 5-7. The funeral service will be Wednesday July 2nd at 11 am at Rader Funeral Home with interment following the service at Godwin Cemetery.
