Sandra Crouch Newman
Sandra Crouch Newman, 62 of Salem, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025, at Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem.
She was born on September 18, 1962, in Roanoke, Va., daughter of the late Carson and Joyce Montgomery Crouch. To those that knew Sandra best, she was truly the life of the party! She enjoyed life and had a genuine love for people in general. She loved trips to the beach with family and friends, and she was well known as a Nascar fanatic as well. She was known to sing a little karaoke at times and her cooking skills were also a big hit, but she will be remembered most for the love she carried for her family, friends, and faithful dogs.
In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, James “Pop” and Ruby Whitlock; maternal grandparents, Sherwood and Madeline Montgomery; brother-in-law, Tim Sutphin; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Family remaining to cherish her memory includes her loving husband of 21 years, Jerry L. Newman; stepchildren, Lauren and Jerry Newman, Jr.; sister, Kelly Sutphin; brothers, Bobby (Margaret) Crouch and Ron (Jennifer) Crouch; nieces and nephews, Haley (Peyton) Wright, Megan Crouch, Carson (Emma) Sutphin, Chandler (Abbey) Sutphin, Kirsten Crouch, Ryan Crouch; great-niece, Georgia Wright; and her lifelong best friend, Cindy Blanton.
A celebration of Sandra’s life will be conducted on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from the hours of 6 until 8 p.m. in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son in Salem. The family asks that you wear your best beach wear attire in accordance with Sandra’s wishes.
