Sandra Duff Burns
Sandra Duff Burns, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on February 22, 2025, at the age of 77.
Born on March 9, 1947, Sandra was known for her warmth, creativity, and deep love for her family and friends.
Sandra had a passion for collecting dolls, crafting, and gardening, finding joy in nurturing plants and creating beautiful floral arrangements. She also loved watching westerns and sharing cherished moments with her loved ones. A dedicated employee and part business owner of Nice As New for 43 years, she built a lifelong friendship with her business partner, Florence Wilder.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Robert James Duff, Sr., and Eunice Leigh Blanks Forlines, as well as her brother, Robert James Duff.
She was married to Kenneth G. Burns Sr. for 20 years and were loving parents to their four children: Kenneth G. Burns Jr., Ashley B. Burns (Tracey), Cami Burns Schaffner (Patrick), and Susan Burns Rusher (Jeremy). She also leaves behind her cherished friend and business partner, Florence Wilder; five grandchildren, Justin, McKenzie, Hollin, Spencer, and Gideon; and great-grandchildren, Bentleigh, Briar, Briggs, Margaret, and Baker, and a sister, Tina Guilbert. She will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephew, cousins, and everyone who knew her.
A funeral service to honor Sandra’s life will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, located at 7404 Timberlake Road in Lynchburg, Virginia. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park in Lynchburg, Virginia. Pastor Ronald Tomlin will officiate the service.
Sandra’s kindness, love, and legacy will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
