Born in Alexandria, Virginia, on March 12, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Earl David Creel and Clara Louise Bryant Upfold.

Sandra was the beloved matriarch of her family, a strong, independent woman whose love and devotion to those closest to her were at the center of her life. She took great pride in her home and especially enjoyed hosting family gatherings and holiday celebrations. Her home was always spotless, welcoming, and filled with the warmth of family traditions and cherished memories.

Known for her spirited personality and a little bit of sass, Sandra was a hardworking woman who carried herself with style and grace. She was always impeccably dressed and took pride in looking her best. Beneath her strong and independent nature was a woman who loved her family deeply and was always there for those she held dear.

Sandra also had a creative spirit and enjoyed spending time crafting and baking, often sharing her talents with family and friends. Above all, her faith was an important part of her life. She loved the Lord, and her faith provided a foundation of strength and guidance throughout her years.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Carusi; three sons, Curtis Wheeler and his wife, Jill, Jeffery Upfold, and Robert "Bobby" Carusi; her granddaughter, Gina Marshall, whom she lovingly adopted and raised as her own daughter; one brother, Earl Douglas Creel and his wife, Maryann; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A service celebrating her life and faith will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday, November 8, 2026 at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 19 George St., Lynchburg. A reception will follow the service.

Interment will be 12:30 pm Monday, November 9, 2026 at Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria, Va

Sandra will be remembered for her strength, her unmistakable personality, her love of family, and the many special memories she created for those fortunate enough to know and love her.
