Sarah Wilson Quessenberry

Sarah Wilson Quessenberry, 104, of Martinsville, Va. passed away Monday, July 10, 2023. She was born in Axton, Va. September 28, 1918 to Joseph Willis Wilson and Janie Barker Wilson.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Daniel Wilson, Ralph Wilson, Roy Wilson, Joseph “JE” “Boat” Wilson, and Muscoe Lee Wilson; sisters, Geneva W. Martin, Marilyn W. Estep, Nora Talbert, Ilene W. Morton, and Allie W. Payne.She is survived by her daughters, Janie M. Horne (Barry) of Richmond, Va. and Kitty Quessenberrry of Martinsville, Va.; grandchildren, Emmett R. Hamersley (Stephanie), Mitch B. Hamersley (Erin) and Nick B. Meredith; great grandchildren, Quin, Fisher, Jace, Emma and Riley; many in-laws and many nieces and nephews.Sarah was a charter member of Woodland Freewill Baptist Church. She was a very family oriented person who loved and cared for all of her family. She also loved gardening, working in flowers, working puzzles and playing video games.A visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Woodland Heights Freewill Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 pm and will be officiated by Jack Horsley.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woodland Freewill Baptist Church, 1995 Old Chatham Road, Martinsville, Va. 24112.Arrangements are by McKee-Stone Funeral Home-Martinsville, VA
