Scott L. Stevens
Scott L. Stevens, 69, of Salem, passed away on June 2, 2026, following a long illness.
A 1975 graduate of Abington Heights High School, Scott was a student-athlete who participated in both football and wrestling. Those who knew him best remember his quick wit, sharp sense of humor, and ability to bring laughter to those around him.
Following high school, Scott proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard. As a Hospital Corpsman Third Class, he distinguished himself through exemplary service and dedication. In 1977, he was awarded the Coast Guard Commendation Medal for Meritorious Achievement by the Commandant of the United States Coast Guard, an honor recognizing his outstanding professionalism and commitment to duty.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry L. Stevens; his mother, Ann (Matthews) Stevens; and his sister, Elizabeth D. Stevens.
Scott is survived by his sister, Susan Lawrence and her husband, Charles, of Bluffton, SC; his brother, Chad Stevens and his wife, Kay, of Clarks Summit, PA; and his three nephews, Matthew Lawrence of Norristown, Daniel Stevens of State College, and William Stevens of Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania.
A private burial with military honors will be held at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery.
