Seymour Kern

May 1, 1939 - July 29, 2024

Mr. Seymour Harold Kern, age 85, formerly of Covington, died Monday, July 29, 2024, at the Masonic Home of Virginia, Richmond. He was the husband of the late Carol Ann Pullin Kern.
Mr. Kern was born May 1, 1939 in Virginia, the son of the late Seymour Henderson Kern and Kathleen Curry Kern. He was employed as a maintenance worker by the Corp of Engineers. Seymour was a fifty year member of the Covington Masonic Lodge #171 AF&AM. Over his decades long involvement with the Masons, Mr. Kern taught a large number of candidates. He was a member of Falling Spring Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Kern is survived by two sisters, Joyce Myers of Covington and Mary K. Morgan of Covington; two sisters-in-law, Betty Kern and Linda Burns; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Kern was preceded in death by seven brothers, William H. "Bill" Kern, Herman Ernest "Hek" Kern, Robert Eugene "Bob" Kern, Harry Gilman Kern, Jackson Ryland Kern, Johnnie Snead Kern and James Preston Kern and a sister, Thelma Jane Kern Brown.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 2, 2024, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Matlack officiating. Interment will follow in Falling Spring Evangelical Presbyterian Cemetery.
Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Covington Masonic Lodge #171 AF & AM.
Pallbearers will be Timmy Blake, Jim Knuckles, Lee Kyle, Gary Morgan, Mike Henderson, Jim Kern, Harry Kern and Brian Middleton.
The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon from 12:30 P.M. until time of service.
