Sharon Elizabeth Ayers

Sharon Elizabeth Ayers, 71, of Roanoke passed away on September 18, 2024 at her residence.

A native of Virginia she was the wife of Gary Ayers, who survives, and the daughter of Clarence and Elizabeth Hostetter, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Northside High School and later worked with her husband at Commonwealth Lighting. Sharon was a volunteer cheerleading coach. She was a faithful servant to her churches. Sharon loved to travel and have beach vacations.

Sharon was a loving wife to Gary as they were married for 23 years. She was a loving sister, devoted Mama, and a Mawmaw to all. In addition to her husband those left to cherish her memory are her brother, Jimmy Hostetter (Teri/Sissy); daughters, Carrie Ertel (Scott) and Amy Schoonover (Adam); sons, Brian Ayers (Dena) and Jonathan Ayers; grandchildren, Austin, Megan, Brittney, Carly, Olivia, Emma, Laurel, Hallie, Ally, Taylor, Gabby, and Tae; and great grandchildren, Zephryn, Zandy, Jackson, Logan, Rylee, Aubriana, Brooks, and Lila. Sharon was also a best friend for 60 years to Donna aka Thelma. She was also a special friend to Dena.

The family will receive friends at Gospel Light Baptist Church on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 2:00 until 3:00 pm. A celebration of life service will follow at 3:00 pm at the church.

Mawmaw was a very special lady to all and will be truly missed.
