Shelby Jean Mabry

SHELBY JEAN MABRY, 76, of Bland, VA, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022 at Westwood Center. She was born September 23, 1946 in Oakvale, WV, the daughter of the late George & Pearl Akers.

Shelby was a very strong woman. After losing her husband at an early age, she raised her children by herself. She was a homebody. She enjoyed homegrown tomatoes. She was a beautician and enjoyed cutting hair, but she hated beards.

Shelby was preceded in death by her parents, George Earldrew & Nannie Pearl Mayberry Akers, her husband, Argle Paul Nunn, her great-grandson, Owen Frye and three brothers, an infant, Larry Akers, George Akers and Oliver Akers.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Timothy & Barbara Nunn, Donna & Michael Underwood and Tracy Nunn; her grandchildren, Pamela Nunn, Michelle Underwood, David Underwood, Shay-Ann Nunn and Mary Nunn; her great-grandchildren, Natalie Hoops, Levi Hoops, Emily Jackson, Luke Jackson and Autumn Frye; and her sisters, Betty Hebbert and Shirley Meadows.

Per her wishes, Shelby has been cremated. A memorial service is planned for Sunday, December 4, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at the Wilderness Creek Church of God with Pastor Philip Buttery officiating.
