Sherman Andrew Cook

Sherman Cook, 87, of Salem Virginia, passed away peacefully in his sleep, on September 18th, 2022. Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha May Cook and William Sidney Cook; daughter, Patricia Elaine Cook; and his son, Michael Sherman Cook.

Sherman was a baseball umpire for 10 years. One of Sherman’s favorite things to do was to take walks. He would walk anywhere, whether it was just up the street, or to the supermarket five miles from his house. He loved to hold his wife’s hand every time he got the chance. Every night, while lying in bed, he would reach for his wife’s hand to feel closer to her.
Those left here to cherish his memory include the love of his life, Ann Cook; children, Rhonda Cook, Sheri Henderson (Tony), and Stephen Cook; stepchildren, Gregory & Denise Hicks; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

A graveside service to honor Sherman’s life will be conducted at Blue ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke, on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at 11 am.
