Sherry Mae Martin

Sherry Mae Martin, 59, of Spout Spring, Virginia passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital. She would have celebrated her 60th birthday this year.
Born in Lynchburg, Virginia on June 18, 1963, she was the daughter of James Allen Martin, Jr., and the late Charmie Ann Gilliam Martin. Sherry was an avid reader, with a special affinity for the Harry Potter series and Nancy Drew collection. She enjoyed literature so much she completed a master’s degree in English from Liberty University. She spent much of her life living in Georgia and Colorado but enjoyed her time in Germany the most. Sherry loved dogs and participated in a number of dog shows, just for fun, with her late border collie, Nina. She loved to travel, especially to the beach, laugh, and be surrounded by her family. Her grandsons call her G-Momma, and they love her very much. They enjoyed visiting her to play magnet tiles and have her throw acorns at them as they tried to duck and dodge her attempts.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her two children, Major Daniel Mark Martin, his wife, Zanna of Fayetteville, N.C., and Robin Michelle Martin of Divide, Colorado; her two grandsons, Alexander and Nikolai Martin; and two brothers, James Allen Martin, III and Randall Dean Martin both of Spout Spring, Virginia.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
