Shirley Culler Wooldridge, born on January 25, 1945, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Thursday, July 23, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arvile Benjamin Culler and Frances Wood Godsey; her beloved husband, William H. Wooldridge; one grandchild; and her two sisters, Joyce Ross and Gloria "Bootie" Robertson.

Shirley will be remembered for her warm heart, outgoing personality, and wonderful sense of humor. A true jokester, she never missed an opportunity to make those around her smile. She was an avid fan of Elvis Presley and enjoyed spending time watching classic 1950s westerns and episodes of The Golden Girls. Shirley had a well-known sweet tooth and found joy in life's simple pleasures. Above all else, she cherished her family. She loved each of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even her beloved fur babies with all her heart.

She is survived by her four children, J.D. Vance, Jr. (Mary Beth), Wanda Gayle Jordan, Mark Allen Vance (Felicia), and Teresa Lynn McClanahan; her two stepbrothers, Len Godsey and Donnie Godsey; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; and one great-great-grandchild.

A visitation celebrating Shirley's life will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Association in Shirley's memory.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Seven Hills Rehabilitation and Nursing for their care during Shirley’s journey.

Though she will be deeply missed, Shirley's laughter, kindness, and unwavering love for her family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
