Stephen Paul Smith

Stephen Paul Smith, 75, of Roanoke passed away on January 21, 2025.

A native of Virginia he was the husband of 49 years to Kathy Smith, who survives, and the son of Pauline Brown and David Brown, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Jackie Robertson and Judy Reed; and brother in law, Owen Reed. Stephen graduated from Jefferson High School with the class of 1968. He later served honorably aboard the USS Newport News with the United States Navy. Stephen worked for Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church where he was the facilities manager. He enjoyed hiking, mountain and road biking, kayaking, and just getting outdoors in general.

In addition to his wife of 49 years those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Jake Smith and Jeff Belcher; grandsons, Caleb Smith, Ethan Smith, Micah Smith, and Trevor Belcher; brothers, David Smith and Joey Brown; and sister, Kathy Benson.

A memorial service will be held at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 1:00 pm. Per his request, casual attire will be preferred. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at Lotz Funeral Home.
