Stephen Woodie

Stephen Howard Woodie, age 60, of 103 Hallies Road, Covington, Virginia died on Sunday, May 10, 2026 at Summers County A.R.H. in Hinton, West Virginia.

Stephen was born on October 19, 1965 in Beckley, West Virginia to Virgil and Polly Sizemore Woodie. He served in the United States Army, and was a salesman for Dodson Pest Control. He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed fishing, basketball, and watching University of West Virginia sports.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy LaClair Woodie of Covington; his father, Reverend Virgil Woodie (Brenda) of Clifton Forge; his mother, Polly Woodie of Covington; his daughter, Jamie Woodie of Murfreesboro, TN; his son, Joshua Woodie of Covington; his sister, Kelli Winters (Randall Bowles) of Crab Orchard, WV; his brother, Christopher Woodie (Sherri) of Goose Creek, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Virgil Woodie and Reverend Christopher Woodie officiating. Following the service, his cremains will be interred at McKinney Cemetery, Tams Mountain in Raleigh County, West Virginia.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Alleghany Humane Society, 9313 Rich Patch Road, Covington, VA 24426.
