Steve Louis Thomas

Mr. Steve Louis Thomas, age 68, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at his home. He was born on November 23, 1957 in Surry County to the late Carl and Mabel Hiatt Thomas. Mr. Thomas retired from Mount Airy Toyota where he had worked as a Parts Manager. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will surely be missed by all who knew him. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 47 years, Kay Beck Thomas; daughters, Stephanie Mendoza and husband Florencio, Samantha Cruz and husband Ernesto; grandchildren, Courtney Pendry (Corey), Steven Mendoza, Sofia Mendoza; sisters, Peggy Chappel (Sonny), Patty Bare (Ricky), Betty Tilley (Tim); brother, Jimmy Thomas (Wanda); sisters-in-law, Barbara Thomas, Frances Jackson; brother-in-law, Lonnie Beck; special friends, Pam Reynolds and Diane McMillian. In addition to his parents Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by a sister, Gail Thomas; brothers, Kenneth, Nelson, and James Thomas. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Salem Fellowship Church, 2591 Wards Gap Rd., Mt. Airy NC 27030 with service conducted by Rev. Jeff Wall. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time for the service at the church.
