Steven Martin
Mr. Steven Alan Martin, age 73, of Covington, died Friday, October 11, 2024, at his residence. He was the husband of Gayle Arrington Martin.
Mr. Martin was born March 3, 1951 in Covington, the son of the late Carl William Martin and Frances Humphreys Martin. A lifetime resident of this community, he was employed as a produce clerk by The Kroger Company, retiring after thirty-eight years of service. Steven also worked at the Homestead for eight years with golf operations and enjoyed playing the game immensely. Mr. Martin was a member of Fletcher Chapel Methodist Church. Steven was also a member of the United Food Workers Union and a former member and past governor of Covington Lodge #610 L.O.O.M. After retirement, Steve and Gayle enjoyed traveling with country and visiting National Parks. In his spare time, he enjoyed shooting pool with his friends, playing pinochle with his family and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Gayle, Mr. Martin is survived by two daughters, Erin Martin Nicely and husband, Brad of Clifton Forge and Meghan Martin Potts and husband, Justin of Hershey, PA; five grandchildren, Ethan Nicely, Kara Nicely, Mason Nicely, Emma Potts and Justin James Potts; a brother Freddie Dale Martin of Covington; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Wayne Martin.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 14, 2024, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Warren officiating. Interment will follow in Fletcher Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brad Nicely, Justin Potts, Ethan Nicely, Andrew Baker, Sam Arrington and Ron Arrington.
The family will receive friends on Monday afternoon from 12:30 P.M. until time of service at Loving Funeral Home.
