Sydney Marshan Jamison, 58, of Bassett, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026, at Franklin Health and Rehab. He was born on November 12, 1967, to the late James R. Jamison and Barbara Ann Via Jamison.
Sydney will be remembered for his caring heart, gentle spirit, and dedication to helping others. He devoted more than 30 years of his life to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), a profession that reflected his compassion and genuine concern for those around him. Through the years, he touched the lives of many patients, families, and coworkers with his kindness and willingness to serve.
Sydney was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church, where his faith and fellowship were an important part of his life. He treasured his family and the special relationships he shared with those closest to him. His memory will continue to live on through the many lives he touched and the love he gave so freely.
In addition to his father, James R. Jamison, Sydney was preceded in death by Garnett Via, Alice Via, James Jamison, and Frances Jamison.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving mother, Barbara Jamison; two brothers, James Maurice Jamison and Gregory Savoy Jamison; one sister, Erica Dillard; one niece, Mckayla Jamison; and two nephews, Justin Jamison and Quan Clark.
Sydney's life was one of service, compassion, and love. Though he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, church family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him, his memory will remain a lasting reminder of the kindness and care he shared with others throughout his life.
A floating visitation will take place on September 11, 2026, from 3 P.M. TO 6 P.M. at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel.
A funeral service will be held for Sydney and his brother Gregory on September 18, 2026 at noon with a visitation one hour prior. All services will be held at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel.
