Sylvia Marshall Harold

Mrs. Sylvia Loraine Marshall Harold, age 92, of Mount Airy passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born in Patrick County, VA on February 27, 1934, the daughter of the late Sherman and Lettie Pruitt Marshall. Mrs. Harold married the love of her life, Bobby Harold, and they were married for 60 years until his death in 2013. After working for many years as a beautician, she joined her husband and children in the family business, H&W Trucking. She was a loving mother, grandmother & great-grandmother who loved to work in her flower and vegetable gardens and cook for her family. She was a faithful member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and volunteered on the Salvation Army Advisory Board. Surviving is her daughter, Susan Harold Thomas; her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Vickie Harold; grandchildren, Tyler Harold, Andrea Tucker (Jordon), Casey Carey (Nick), Abigale Harold (Tyler Inman) and Whitney Hunter (David); great-grandchildren, Jace Tucker, Adley Tucker, Sylvie Tucker, Ellie Carey, Jack Carey, Cayden Hudson, Maddie Hunter, Cory Atkins, and Hendrix Jones-Atkins; brother, John Henry Marshall (Linda); special niece, Phyllis Crabb (Jerry) and several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Ruth Handy (Gene) and Frances Utt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Harold, son-in-law, Randy Thomas, sisters, Gertrude Montgomery, Attrice Thompson and Ethel Kirk, brother, Bobby Quesinberry, and grandson, Nathan Atkins. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Mount Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Tyler Nelson and Mr. Bruce Ayers officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30-2:00 PM at the church and interment will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Building Fund, 123 Mount Carmel Church Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030, or to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home P.O. Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to extend a thank you to Ridgecrest Assisted Living, the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home and to her very special caregiver, Carol McBride. Her funeral arrangements are entrusted with Moody Funeral Service of Mount Airy, NC.
