Terry Wayne Simpkins

December 27, 1974 - December 30, 2024

Terry Wayne Simpkins, aged 50, of Pearisburg, Virginia, passed away on December 30, 2024, after a life well-lived, filled with friendship, enthusiasm, and a kind-hearted spirit. Born on December 27, 1974, Terry was a man who effortlessly touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His journey on this earth may have concluded, but the warmth of his presence will be forever remembered.

Terry was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Garnett Simpkins and Mary Martha Hungate, and his brother, Mackie Hungate. He was a cherished son and brother, whose memory will continue to be a guiding light for all his family and friends

Left to cherish Terry’s memory to their hearts are his special friends, Rikki Jennell; Mike Spicer; and all county, town and state police officers.

The friendship of many played a significant role in Terry's life, as he was a beloved friend and "classmate at heart" to many at Giles High School. He embodied the Spartan spirit, demonstrating loyalty, courage, and a sense of camaraderie that lasted well beyond his school years. Terry's schoolmates will undoubtedly recall his friendship and many stories that will be told for years to come.

Terry's interests were as varied as they were passionate. His daily walks around town were not just exercise but an opportunity to engage with his many friends. He was a familiar and welcome sight on the streets of Pearisburg, often stopping to share a story or a laugh. His love for pets was evident to anyone who saw him interact with animals, treating them with the same kindness and respect he showed to his human friends.

A lifelong fan of video games, Terry found joy and excitement in the virtual worlds he explored. In recent years, Terry was sworn in as an honorary police officer, a role he held with great pride. He would jokingly remind his friends that he could now "arrest" them, adding a touch of lightheartedness to their interactions.

Above all, Terry was loving. This single word encapsulates the essence of who he was—a man with a heart full of love for his community, his friends, and his family. He gave of himself freely and without expectation, and in return, he was adored by those who knew him.
