Thelma Faye Shelton Bolt
Mrs. Thelma Faye Shelton Bolt, age 96, of Meadows of Dan, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. She was born in Floyd County on October 8, 1928, to the late Ulysses Grant Shelton and Ruby Ethel Turpin Shelton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin George Bolt; two grandsons, Joshua Dale Sutphin and Jodie Ray Moles; seven siblings, Grover Shelton, Annie Dickerson, Dallas Shelton, Ray Shelton, Herbert Shelton, Roy Shelton, and Harold Shelton; one daughter-in-law, Linda Gail McPeak Bolt; one son-in-law, James “J.C.” Willard, Jr.; and one brother-in-law, Buster Dickerson. Mrs. Bolt embodied the essence of motherhood; she was the best mother one could hope for. Her deep devotion to her family knew no bounds. Thelma's legacy is rich, filled with countless memories of tenderness and support. As each of her “young'uns” grew, she cultivated an environment where dreams flourished and hopes blossomed. Her gentle hands not only nurtured but also instilled life’s most important values—compassion, empathy, and resilience. The lessons she imparted will echo through generations, a testament to her influence as a mother.
Mrs. Bolt is survived by seven children, Walter Ray Bolt (Lorie), Robert Wayne Bolt, Jewell Marie Sutphin (Gary), Harold Douglas Bolt (Dorothy), Debra Lynn Willard, Donna Sue Bolt, and Michael Dean Bolt; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Maggie Shelton, Nelva Shelton, and Jane Shelton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mrs. Bolt will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with her grandson, Pastor Jason Pratt officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Alderman Family Cemetery in Willis. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday morning.
