Thelma Jean Harris

Thelma Jean Lundy Harris, 83, of Elliston, Virginia, passed through the heavenly gates peacefully from home, on Friday, June 6, 2025. Born December 30, 1941, in Montgomery County, to the late Edwin and Mary Lundy, she is also preceded in death by her son, Phillip D. Harris; brothers, Buck Lundy and Donnie Lundy; sister, Mary Louise Young, as well as her former husband, Glenn Dee Harris.

Mrs. Harris retired from Lewis Gale Clinic after 22 years of faithfully working in medical records. After retirement, she spent her time in service to others, sharing her faith and nurturing her family. Her unwavering faith was evident in her daily life as she sought God’s guidance in all things. She was a longtime member of the Jimmy Swaggart Ministries. She was a devoted daughter, mother, “Granny” and friend who will be dearly missed.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her loving daughters, Linda Mech and Martha (Doug) Morgan; daughter-in-law, Rita Harris; and sister, Norma (Roger)Webb. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Natasha (Billy) Daugherty, Jamie (Jennifer) Harris, Phillip (Whitney) Harris and Douglas (Kathleen) Morgan; great-grandchildren, Emily (Ricky) Sheppard, William (Alexis) Daugherty, Addison Harris, Abigail Harris, Shepard and Niall Morgan; great-grandson, Osiris Sheppard, as well as her beloved and long-time companion, Bentley.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Roanoke.

The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice for their compassionate care and kindness to both Mrs. Harris and to their family during this most difficult time.
