Theron "Terry" Odell Miller

July 5, 1943 - September 11, 2024

Mr. Theron Odell "Terry" Miller, age 81, of Dobson, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024. He was born July 5, 1943, in Surry County to the late Theron Odell Miller, Sr. and the late Nues Bray Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 ½ years, Wanda Gail Comer Miller; and his brother, Kenneth Ray Miller.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Nancy Truitt Miller; his daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and John Perry; his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Karen Miller; grandchildren, Tiffany Miller (Robbie Watson) and Seth Perry and wife, Jen; great grandchildren, Brayden Warren and Corbyn Warren; special friends, Barry and Darlene Hodges, Larrie and Anna Robinson, Marian, Shannon and Seth Soare, Brett Jones, the late Cleve Haymore and his wife, Judy Haymore and family; Barbara Cochran Hester and family, Albert and Jamie Smith, Diane and Konooz Comer- Mohiuddin and family, and Howard W. Comer; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sherry and Gary Comer Cox; nieces, Andrea Miller (Phil Vogler), Stephanie M. McDuffee and husband, Daniel, and Sheena Miller; great nieces and great nephews, Zoe, Pheobe, Patrick, Hannah, James, and Scarlet; brother and sister-in-law, Alex and Connie Miller; and sister-in -law, Diane Miller. Mr. Miller graduated Mountain Park High School and Appalachian State University, served in the United States Air Force, worked for the North Carolina Wildlife Commission, a member of the Mount Airy Police Department, was a supervisor for Renfro Hosiery, worked for the Surry County Sheriff's Department as Chief of Detectives, served as Chief of Police for the City of Dobson and retired after 33 years of law enforcement service, worked security for Surry Community College, drove a tractor/ trailer for Golding Transportation, was an avid fisherman who loved fishing the Mitchell River or anywhere with trout or bass. He also loved deer hunting, and gardening, especially roses, cattle farming, and was a part time pilot and flight instructor at the Mount Airy Airport. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Per Mr. Miller's wishes, there will be NO formal services held. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Miller family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, PO Box, 315, Dobson, NC 27017, or to the T. O. Miller, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund, PO Box 874, Linville NC 28646.
