Thomas Anderson
Thomas Jonathan ("Jon") Jackson Anderson, 54, of Roanoke, passed away unexpectedly at work on June 29th, 2023.
Jon was born on April 18th, 1969, in Annapolis, Md. His family moved to Brownsburg, Va., where he attended Rockbridge County Middle and High Schools. A degree in Information Technology from Emory & Henry enabled him to turn his interest in computers and technology into a career in Information Systems with several employers in the Roanoke Valley.
In addition to technology and mechanics (or, as he put it; "anything with buttons and lights"), Jon had a life-long love of cars, a fascination with history, and an appreciation for science fiction, James Bond, and Inspector Clouseau.
Jon was much beloved not only by his wife and children, but also by his siblings, co-workers, neighbors and church family. Jon excelled in his role as Director of Information Technology at National Bank in Blacksburg and was an excellent caretaker and provider for his family.
He is predeceased by his father, Richard "Dick" and mother, Elizabeth "Betsy" Anderson, and his daughter, Lena Anderson. He is survived by his wife, Jolene; children, Griffin and Ginger; brother, Ned Anderson, and his sister, Liz Malayter. Jon will also be missed by his dog babies, Pepper and Chillie.
The family will welcome friends on Friday, July 7, 2023, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m, in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 8 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jake Hooker officiating. Committal to follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem.
