Thomas Burton Powell

Thomas Burton Powell Jr, age 85 passed away at home on February 8, 2024. Born on May 21, 1938, Tom was the son of the late Gladys Wells Powell and Thomas Burton Powell Sr. He served 2 years active duty in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. Tom was in the 501st Military Police Company. He went on to serve four more years in the Army Reserves. Tom worked at DuPont and retired after 38 years.He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Brenda Williams Powell, his daughter Melissa Powell Valley and son-in-law Aaron Valley. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, sister-in-law, three sisters, one brother, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service with Military Honors will be held at McKee Stone Funeral Home on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 4:00 pm. The family will receive friends and visitors one hour prior to the service from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Burial will be private and at a later date. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to personal caregiver, Rita Stanley, Mountain Valley Hospice, Stateline Heart & Vascular, Dr. Jon’s Urgent Care and the Ridgeway District Volunteer Rescue Squad.
