Thomas “Tommy” Andrew Rakestraw of Bassett died Thursday, May 9, 2024, in the VA Medical Center in Salem, Virginia. He was born August 24, 1948, to the late Joseph Andrew Rakestraw, Jr. and the late Ora Letha Edwards Rakestraw. He was preceded in death by his sister Jo Ann Rakestraw.
The family wishes to the express their gratitude to Tommy’s caregiver Mary Hunt, to his minister Susan Spangenberg, and to his church family at Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church.
A graveside service will be held at Roselawn Burial Park, Monday, May 20, 2024, at 11:00am with Pastor Susan Spangenberg officiating.
